This cutie needs her pigtails, so let's get started.

I use a three inch doll needle threaded with matching crochet thread or button thread. Enter the needle in the center of head at seam. Do not pull the thread all the way up, leave a tail about 6 inches long. Pull the thread around and enter the needle back into the same hole you entered with the thread the first time. Exit the needle out the same hole you exited the first time.

Cut the thread, leave a 6 inch tail. Repeat on the sides where you want the pigtails to be.

Cut the yarn strands for the pigtails and bangs and make two separate bundles, one bundle for the pigtails and one bundle for the bangs.

Slip the longer bundle under all three loops. Arrange yarn strands.
.
Place short bundle on top of long bundle and arrange yarn strands.

(BACK OF HEAD on the right) Pull thread really tight and tie a couple of times.

Trim the pigtails and bangs if you need to. Oh sew cute! Oh Sew Dollin!

You can bury the thread ends or just trim them. Most of the time I bury unless I am making a raggedy style Annie. To bury the ends, cut the threads that are hanging in the back and thread them into your needle again. Enter the needle into the same hole the thread is in.

Go deep into the stuffing and exit out the back of head.

Pull the end of thread and snip the ends so that it goes back into the stuffing.
That is it, this cutie has pigtails!
